L.D. 479, An Act To Improve Childhood Vaccination Rates in Maine

L.D. 471 sought to improve vaccination rates among Maine children by requiring parents to consult with doctors before withholding vaccinations from their children for philosophical reasons.

The bill passed in the legislature but was vetoed by LePage.  The legislature failed to override the veto.  Parents in Maine still have the right to choose whether or not to vaccinate their kids.

IMHO: You should vaccinate your children from preventable diseases.  I'm sure lots of parents would be rather upset with you for being stupid and irresponsible with your child's health if your kids brought a preventable disease to school and spread it around.

Not everything they do is bad you know.

FYI, California did just pass a law requiring children to be vaccinated.
