Maine seventh-graders will need a new vaccine next school year

Next school year, Maine will start requiring seventh-grade students to receive a second dose of a vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis.

The rule was adopted last week by the state Department of Health and Human Services and will go into effect for public school students in September.

'Officer Smiley' relieved after Elan School story

What an interesting story to come out on this New Years Day.  I want to commend Officer Max Ashburn for what he did.  He was a hero.  That "school" (more like an emotional and physical abuse social experiment) was horrible.
For nearly 40 years, Max Ashburn kept a secret: When he was school liaison officer for the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department, he helped a boy escape from the Elan School.
